Stefano’s singing gift was recognized early in life, as he would imitate the voices of gospel singers Commissioned and the Winans and the legendary Michael Jackson. At the age of eight, he began singing in the youth choir of his church.

Born Lester Stanford, Jr., Stefano, was brought up in the church like many young people, but after witnessing the tragic death of his father, who was shot by his uncle in front of him, caused a renewed, closer relationship with God.

Soon after surrendering his Life to The Lord, Lester began singing with a group of other young men and eventually formed the gospel singing sensation group, Young Men Sent (YMS). The group disbanded in 2006, after 14 years.

During his time with YMS, Lester took on a new identity and became "Stefano." The name Stefano means ‘crowned’ and he wears his locks like a lion’s mane, which is his crown. Like a lion, Stefano and his music are bold and fearless.

Stefano, always inspired to use the gifts that GOD gave him, is still trailblazing a new unique sound for the world to hear. He defines his genre as "Nu*Soul", a universal blend of music and lyrics that are centered within his relationship with God and how this relates to his everyday life. "Nu*Soul" is a mixture of encouragement, emotion and reflective of Real LIFE experiences.  Stefano’s desire is to affirm people in whatever situations they may find themselves.

Although raised in the church, Stefano’s personal experiences taught him that God doesn't just exist inside ‘the four walls.’  His music is relatable to a mass audience because of his ‘non-judgmental’ approach and perspective. He realizes that “what doesn't kill you truly does make you stronger.” Stefano’s philosophy is: “Everything one experiences as an obstacle is to be conquered so you can help someone else in theirs.”

Stefano’s music is raw, blunt and transparent. It provides a perfectly balanced contrast between his more ‘laid back’ and dynamically aggressive tunes.

Stefano’s ultimate goal is to put perspective back into music. To give the listener something that they can "feel" - a powerful, positive message that speaks to the whole man layered atop infectious harmonies and magnetic beats. His music reaches across the aisle in hopes of offering both entertainment and encouragement. When the music stops, the listener is always left with much more than a melody.
